American Idol Instant Recap: La’Porsha Renae, “A House Is Not a Home”

This performance showed why there was no “Motown Week” this season – it would have been embarrassing for everyone not named La’Porsha Renae.

Imagine if they would have picked a good song? Like something legendary. Not to crap all over Dionne Warwick, but “A House Without a Home” ain’t cracking anyone’s “best vocal songs ever” list. It’s a good song and LPR sang the shit out of it, but I would have loved, loved, loved, loved La’Porsha to sing Aretha. Or Mavis Staples. Or even something crazy, like “Time To Say Goodbye” by Andrea Bocelli.

A dull song, but good god can this woman sing. She’s creeping up as a top five vocalist in Idol history, no? Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood then who? Jordin Sparks, Fantasia or La’Porsha? Haley Reinhart is in the mix. I mean, La’Porsha passed Candice Glover like six exits ago and I’m not comparing her to Jennifer Hudson because J-Hud wasn’t as good on Idol as La’Porsha is on Idol. Sorry but not sorry.

Anyway, nothing Trent can do except sit there and get dunked on.
